Lessons of War a play that teaches the meaning of peace

Barbara was a nineteen year old college student (picture left

would marry in 1973. Barbara would say years later, “I think
it was God’s way of punishing me to have married you.”
Though people have wondered why they married, Fred Leo
would always profess. “I saw Barbara and I just knew she
was the one for me. Even if she doesn’t.” Then he’d laugh
and she would roll her eyes.
In 1977, Fred Leo would hold his wife’s hand as Cara was
born. He would write later, “They bathed her, wrapped her in
pillow cotton and placed her in my arms.” She was the
subject of one his most memorable poems entitled, “My
First True Love.” He would say, “I never really knew love until
God gave me Cara.” (Baby Cara left bottom)
The new addition to the Brown’s family. “Where’s my food.”
1980 - His second daughter and soul mate, Kathryn, was
born. Fred Leo would say, “God’s third gift had arrived.”

After tucking Kathryn into bed after her first birthday party, he
went into the office and sat in front of his typewriter and
typed, “’Fasten your seat belts. We are ready for takeoff.’ It is
November 26, 1967, the aircraft, a Boeing 707, departing
from Travis Airforce Base, California. Destination,
Vietnam.”
That day would start the official beginning of his new journey
to write his book Vietnam’s Wall of Blood.
